The Klemm Family

Reunion Camp Sites

October 3, 2006 · 13 Comments

I hope you all will enjoy writing and making comments.  I just heard from Julie and she is still unable to make connections with Camp Bethel in the Big Horns, but she is looking into a camp site with cabins in Cody that may work out for us.  I really wonder though about the 4th of July being available at since that is Cody’s highlight, but I think it is a good idea.  Jerry is interested in a new place in Ten Sleep at the golf course.  He has been pouring concrete there for cabins to be built.  There are 4 done now and they hope to have 12 altogether.  He is going to check on the pricing - if it is available.  I checked in Circle J in Ten Sleep, but all it has is 2 dorms with 33 beds in each.  We would really be at camp - all living together.  Didn’t sound inviting to me. There is also the possibility of just having it in Worland and then planning activities in Thermopolis, Ten Sleep Creek, etc.  Please, everyone, help us find the best place.  I am really looking forward to this.

I like the lodge idea. I don’t know how else everyone would have a place to stay and close to fun stuff. The date pretty much would depend on when we could get it.

Probably 3 or 5 days would work for most.

I agree Dorothy, It may be in August - depending on when we can get a place. 1st priority I guess is to find a place.

How exciting to get to see everyone again! I like the idea of the lodge too. Cool blog.

Sorry I can’t get through to Camp Bethel. How about Deer Haven or Meadowlark??? I can’t imagine they’d be too pricey, but I haven’t been to either forever and I have no idea what kind of shape they are in……I have to admit that the thought of you all having to put up with my crew in a lodge is scary!! I forgot that the 4th is such a crazy time in Cody - probably not an optimal choice. The Worland hotel idea is okay, with 2-3 fun events planned and perhaps a dinner. I really like the cabins on the golf course idea!

I’ll check into Meadowlark & Deer Haven. Frani, do you know the status of these two areas???

I think the closer to Worland/the Big Horns the better. Then we’d be close to your house and vehicles, etc. if we needed them. I’m not so sure everyone’s going to want to stay in a lodge with my three kiddos either. They would think it was one giant slumber party!

I need to change my name from klemmfam to Frani. Haven’t figured out how to do it yet. This blogging is new to me. I don’t know the particulars of Meadow Lark or Deerhaven, but please look into them, Julie. I still need to get hold of Gina and Marty. Don’t have their emails yet. Anyone know them? I think Dorothy contacted Dave and Andy and Teresa knows about the blog. I sent emails to Laura and Chris but haven’t heard from them. Someone needs to convince Barb and Duane that computers are a necessity. :)

Is the family pretty sure they want to do this around the Big Horns? There are other options like Denver or Salt Lake that probably have camps and other attractions. Meadowlark and Deerhaven would be kind of like Motels, so if we are going to do that, I would rather stay in the mountains than at the super 8 in Worland. If we reserved them now, we could probably get enough cabins at deerhaven or meadowlark.

Another option for those interested. I am on the board of a Christian camp in central Utah. We can rent the camp for a few days. It would have about 12 cabins, a kitchen, meeting hall, and bathrooms. The downside, we would have to use it in mid to late august after the youth camping season is over. It is about 2.5 hours south of Salt Lake City which could provide another obstacle. The upside-we would be the only ones there.

Hmmmmm, I think the key to success with this reunion is going to be easy travel and moderate cost. The closer we can get to an airport, the better for some. I will look into it as well. Is Worland a central location? I don’t have much in the way of connections, but I will look around. We will need a place that has plenty for small children to do. Those under the age of 6 or 7 will have to be watched carefully.

I can see a need for vehicles being an issue too.

Near Yellowstone would be nice, if we can find space…

I guess I am no real help… just blabbing.

Nice to see everyone here… sort of… Ha…

Thanks Matthew for putting this site up for us…

Check out this link, there are several more affordable cabins… We figured it would come out to be about $135 person. It is on a lake in Minnesota.

Much as I’d like to have it near Worland since Mom and Dad live there and it would be nice to stay extra time at their house, I’d have to say that Worland isn’t really a central location for any of us. Casper would be better and maybe Denver or Salt Lake since there are big airports there and they are within driving distance (= cheaper) of anyone in Wyoming. Wyoming, Colorado or Utah seem to be the most central states for the majority of us.

Denver has tons to do and beautiful mountains. Of course an international airport doesn’t hurt either.

Hey, Laura. I agree with you. While Worland has sentimental attachment for me, I think Denver offers the most convenience for the majority of the family. Any suggestions of sites in the Denver area?
